After the fall festival, we headed up to the mountains and Estes Park to see the leaves and go hiking. My sister-in-law, Sarah, met us up there with her kids as well. We hiked about four miles round trip. It was so beautiful--all the trees were incredible and the scenery couldn't be beat! The kids did awesome on the hike. It helped that they had friends and cousins to hike with. Isaac and Ross were the trailblazers up at the front, and the girls hiked with Avery the entire time--holding hands for most of it--and made up a fun new "language" of their own. They had a blast.
Avery, Audrey and Chloe with their walking sticks.

We made it to the top! Here are Ross, Chloe, Audrey and Grace at Gem Lake.

Isaac was like our own little Bighorn Sheep.

We got back into the town of Estes Park around dinner time and had some pizza before starting the long drive home. The kids were all asleep within minutes of starting the car--thank goodness! We got back late, and exhausted but it was all worth it! The only thing that could have made it better would have been having Ryan with us. Hopefully next year (the basement better be done by then!!!)

My goodness! You had a BUSY day. How is the basement coming? Can't wait to see the finished product.
Estes Park! I'm so jealous! We did a family reunion there last summer, and I feel in love with it. You'll have to go again and again and again for me. No mountains out here, you know.
So fun! I've got to get our boys up the canyon here before the leaves are gone and the snow is here!
