Big man on campus

Lincoln started preschool a week ago. He LOVES it. I mean, LOVES it. He wants to go every day, but has to settle for just two days a week. He is constantly talking about how he is a preschooler now, so that is why things have to be done in a certain way. (I personally love the fact that "preschoolers wipe their own bums.")

And as for me? How am I holding up with my last child having left the nest? PARTY!!! Just kidding...My mom was concerned that I would miss Linky. He really is my sweet little buddy and an absolute joy to be with. But I manage to keep busy. On Tuesdays I volunteer at the school and I have started doing my long bike rides on Thursdays. I have enough time to go 20 miles, come home, shower and get a few chores done before going to pick him up.

This is the first day, in front of his school. The sign says, "I am a Preschooler!"

Kids bathroom, check.

The girls got SO upset when I decided to re-do their bathroom. They wanted a "kid bathroom" and apparently I did a "parent bathroom." I mean, seriously, there were tears involved. They'll get over it--it's my house.

Before: (This will also give you a good idea of what the basic color scheme of the master bath was, too, since I forgot to take before pictures of it)

And after:

I got inspired by a shower curtain I saw at Target. I love, love, love blue and white. My favorite!!

I did sort of get the girls on board by letting them help with the art work in the bathroom. Lincoln "helped me" do the ones on the little cabinet and Isaac did the one over the toilet. Here are the girls' paintings.

Ryan laughed as he overheard me give them directions. "Use your imagination and be creative. You can only use these colors and try to make the flowers on your painting look like the flowers on this hand towel." Me? Control freak? No way.

Lack of posts can only mean one of two things...

Illness or yet another home-improvement project. Luckily for me (but maybe not so much for Ryan...) it was the latter!

I found this bedding that I absolutely fell in LOVE with while we were in Utah. So what did that mean? Time to re-decorate the master bedroom, of course! And that led to a little remodeling of the master bath, as well. I took some pictures when I last redecorated the master, which really wasn't all that long ago, but I never love, love, loved it. So, yay for having Before pics!!

Actually, looking back at these pictures it looks pretty good. But I guess I was ready for a change. And once we replaced our carpet with something much darker, the dark bedding didn't look that great anymore. So, here is the after! (New paint, new curtains, new bedding, painted furniture and new accessories--although the walls are very bare still, so we will be getting more.)

The other problem with our old decor was that it really left me uninspired when it came to decorating the master bath. So that remained just ugly, ugly, ugly. And wouldn't you know it--I once again forgot to take before pictures. And this may just be the biggest transformation in our whole house!!!! I LOVE it!!!! Of course it all looks MUCH better in person, so come on over!! Here it is!! (New paint--on walls on cabinetry, new lighting, new chandelier, new fixtures, new accessories.)

Now I have all kinds of plans for the kids bathroom. That is the last major decorating project we have in this house! Then what am I going to do???
