Maybe my kids will have better success running than I have had. The elementary school had an awesome fundraiser this past weekend. I think it was a brilliant idea! The students all collected pledges (or just had their parents donate) and then they had a school wide running event called "The Running of the Antelope." Not only did they exceed their goal of fundraising for the entire year, but they encouraged health and fitness at the same time. Brilliant! And a lot of fun.
We started off with a pancake breakfast where the teachers served up the flapjacks.
Lincoln showed us (and a lot of innocent bystanders) his moves when we got outside and heard the music blaring over the loudspeakers.
We saw lots of friends!
And they are off! (The DJ played the theme song from "Chariots of Fire." Classic.)
They had to run, walk, skip, jump, hop or generally MOVE for 20 straight minutes. Isaac and his teacher chased each other around the track--every time she got close behind him, he would take off in a sprint. Here is Isaac and Mrs. Liber:
It was a hot day and the kids were tired by the end of it, but we all had a great time. And the kids got medals for all their hard work!!
