Down on the farm!

We had a lot of fun while my parents were here this weekend. On Friday the big kids were at school, but we took Lincoln on a fun little outing by himself. We went to the Littleton Historical Museum, which is a really cool place for all you locals! I'm taking the kids back when we track off. It has two historic farms complete with animals, farmhouses and barns to explore. There is also a lake and an indoor museum all about Littleton through the years. Lincoln really loved seeing all the animals and just spending time exploring.

Daddy Daughter Olympics

Ryan took the girls to the "Daddy/Daughter Olympics" last weekend and they had a great time! They even took third place in the balloon toss!

Fairy Dust

The last time the Tooth Fairy visited our house, she left fairy dust (which bears a strange and unnatural resemblance to iridescent craft glitter) all over the girls' beds and pillows. The other day I was making Chloe's bed and I found this little note under the pillow along with 3 cents. Translation: "To the Tooth Fairy. More Fairy Dust."
Maybe she would have gotten results if she had said, "Please."

Lincoln--my black man

Lincoln is such a funny little kid! He decided to get himself dressed yesterday and picked out his favorite guitar shirt. When I suggested jean shorts, he said, "No, those don't match. I need black pants." (Because his shirt is black, obviously.) I don't even know why the pants he found were in his drawer, but they fit his requirement of being black, and even though they are size 6-12 months, he managed to get them on!! He wore this outfit all day and kept saying, "I am a black man!" Who knows what people were thinking!

The other day as we were walking to school, the girls were once again complaining about how they didn't want to walk and how tired they were. So I (once again) said, "I don't know how we are going to go to Disneyland if you guys can't even walk up the street to the school." Lincoln turned to me and said, "It's okay, Mommy, we are flying to Disneyland this year."

And my favorite...
I took Lincoln on a "special date" last week to see Toy Story 3 while the kids were at school. When we got to the theater, I said, "Lincoln, you have to hold my hand, we are on a date." He looked down, then looked at me and said, "No, Mommy. We are on a sidewalk."

Visitors Galore!!

I feel like we rarely have visitors. We built a guest room and a guest bathroom in the basement and we hardly ever get to use it. Until last week, that is, when we had three different waves of visitors come through!!

My high school friend, Karen, and her family came on Sunday night and stayed until Monday morning. We had a lot of fun catching up and the kids had fun playing. The girls latched right on to her daughter, Ashlee. They were very impressed with her ability to run fast. When she came with us to drop the girls off at school on Monday morning, Audrey told one of her friends, "This is our friend Ashlee. She can run really fast. Show her your moves, Ashlee!" Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures!! Maybe we will all see each other again in another ten years...

My sister also came into town that night with her two boys. We hadn't gotten to meet Nolan yet, and we were all excited to snuggle up with that cute baby!!

Lincoln and Royal also got a chance to become reacquainted.

Erin and I had fun laying low on Monday, which was good because it turned out that Lincoln had croup! Her husband, Dave got into town that night and then they left to go to Park City Tuesday morning.

But that is not all. No, that is not all.

Wednesday morning my mom got into town. We had fun just doing things around town during the week--we didn't want to have too much fun because the kids were all in school. We went on a long bike ride and we did take Lincoln to the fountains at the mall one day.

We also surprised the girls by showing up to have lunch with them at school on Friday. They were thrilled! Lincoln loved bringing his lunch box and eating with the big kids, too.

On Saturday we packed up and went into downtown Denver to the Unsinkable Molly Brown house. The kids did really well on the tour and enjoyed the museum part where they were actually allowed to touch something.

We then took Grammie to Belleview Park for a nice picnic lunch and a fun afternoon playing in the river.

Grammie was on her way to Park City this morning, but she will be back through along with Grandpa, Erin and her boys again at the end of the month! We are excited to have more visitors then!!

My favorite thing to remember this week:
Lincoln can't pronounce his "GR" sound, so Grammie is "Blammie." But then for some reason he kept clarifying who he was talking about every time he spoke of Grammie to me, so she became "Your Mommy, Blammie." It was cute.

It's getting closer!!

We finished up laying the last of the sod last night!!! It's still patchy, but I LOVE looking out the back window and seeing GREEN!!! Now all that's left is finishing the patio and building the pergola. I'm so thrilled with the way it's turning out! Maybe we really will be finished by Labor Day, too!
