Updates

This past week Ryan has been working on a huge programming project for school. Then our computer crashed, taking his project down with it. So poor Ryan has spent hours and hours playing catch up on our laptop and trying to fix the computer. Our vacation budget is rapidly diminishing as it gets siphoned into our newly created "fix the computer" budget. And in the meantime I won't be able to post any pictures until we get it back up and running. Which is too bad, because we did have a fun day yesterday...maybe I'll get to blog about that in a few days.

On to other news, of a sort. This all came out on Facebook the other day, and since I do use this blog as a journal type record, I thought I'd go ahead and update all of you too. I went to the doctor a few weeks ago regarding a suspicious bump on my head and she immediately thought skin cancer (which is what I suspected too) and sent me to a dermatologist. I saw him on Tuesday and he did a biopsy which was interesting--the best part was when the receptionist almost fainted when blood started unexpectedly pouring down my forehead as I was checking out. The dermatologist was very reassuring, which was good, although I still find myself unable to sleep at night running through all the "what ifs" and worse case scenarios in my head. It doesn't help that we have a close family friend that is dying from melanoma. Anyway, the doctor did say that if it is cancer, it is most likely basal cell carcinoma (not melanoma), so that is good. We will hopefully get the biopsy results soon and then go from there. If it is cancer, I will have to get it surgically removed. I expressed my concern to the doctor that they were going to shave my head and he said, "Oh, not your whole head, just about this much." He showed me a circle about the diameter of a baseball. Only a man would think it is not a big deal to have a bald patch the size of a baseball on the top of your head! I have no idea what I am going to do about that! Well, I just hope it is not cancer so that I don't have to worry about it. As it is, the biopsy left a dime size bald spot that I am having to strategically hide every day. Audrey told me that one little part of my head was ugly, but the rest of it is beautiful. Thanks, Audrey! :)

One more thing, it is Friends and Family time at the Gap again. If you want a 30% off coupon (good at all Gaps, Old Navy and Banana Republic and online) send me your e-mail address and I would love to hook you up!! (The coupon is only good this coming weekend, so be quick about it!)

More to come...

So sorry to hear about your recent stress with the biopsy, etc.! I hope it turns out not to be cancer. Last year I went through something similar, a weird developing bump on my forearm. I had it removed and biopsied (with a family history of melanoma, I'm not messing around), and I guess it's a curse that especially plagues us redheaded, fair-skinned folk! ;) Mine turned out to be nothing, and I hope the same is true for you. Good luck, and keep us all posted. P.S. We'll still love you if you're sporting a bald spot. :)

I hope everything turns out well with the biopsy. My mom recently did the same thing with her thyroid. She just had half of it removed.
I would love a friends/family coupon if you have any more available...erin_brems@yahoo.com
Thanks!

Mom also had a spot removed on her face that was showing the early signs of Melanoma. So hopefully if they catch it then all will be well....besides the bald spots. but in the long run, the bald spot could be the least of your worries, so I guess that is looking at it optimistically:). Melis and I would love a friends and family coupon too. saracardon@yahoo.com and melisbrems@gmail.com

Perhaps now would be the time to invest in some stylish hats? ;) No really, I hope that it turns out to be nothing at all so that you don't have to worry and your hair can stay where it belongs! Hopefully they'll get back to you soon with the biopsy results; the waiting is just about the worst part.

I'd LOVE a F&F coupon! I'm too fat for all my jeans now but not ready for maternity for a long time, so now Maren and I both desperately need pants that fit!

I'm so sorry for all the stress you've been through lately. I hope the tests come back with good news. (Only a man would say that a bald spot is no big deal! My goodness!)

P.S. No need to send me a coupon. But thanks for offering! I'm trying to stick to a budget and The Gap has way too many cute clothes. :)

Sorry to hear about Ryan's project and your computer. How frustrating!!

We are keeping you in our prayers and hope things turn out well with your "head issue". j/k Just trying to keep things light. Nothing like sporting a pony tail for a year or so, huh?

We love you all!

I'm so sorry to hear about your scare with the thing on your head. You are so smart to get it looked at now, though. I love the post about some days being better than others. My boys have started fighting, well mostly one hits the other on the head with hard objects and then looks at me like "what? what's the matter with doing that?" I have been hitting the comfort foods pretty hard lately and it better not last until they're in grade school! They don't make pants big enough for that. Hang in there.

Wow. Look at all the stuff I miss when I don't log into facebook for a few days!

Yikes! Hope everything is OK. (I'm sure it will be!)
