We have decided to make this restaurant a yearly spring track-off tradition. It takes almost an hour to get there, the mediocre food is overpriced, and it is in a seriously sketchy part of town, but it is so much fun!!! As we drove there this afternoon, Ryan said "We are going to Casa Bonita to celebrate the end of track-off" and I added, "And the beginning of track-on!!!" (Isaac goes back to school on Monday. Woo-hoo!!!)
We went at a great time and got a great table--our own little Tikki Room up in the corner, right next to the waterfall and the cliff diver, who came to visit us multiple times.
The kids loved the constant live entertainment--diving, a pirate show and even a man juggling fire torches.
After we finished our all-you-can-eat sopapillas, we explored Black Bart's Cave and did a pinata. Ryan took Lincoln into the cave, which I thought was questionable to begin with. It scared him half to death and he pretty much clung to me the rest of the time we were there. Anytime we asked him if he wanted to go in the cave, he solemly shook his head NO. Both Audrey and Isaac were chosen to take a swing at the pinata and Audrey almost took a lady's head off, but it was all good. Lincoln just loved the whole experience (minus the cave) and was especially enchanted with the honey--not the sopapillas--just the honey. It was so much fun! Now I need to go work out and burn off all those deep fried calories. Luckily I skipped lunch today.
Here we have Jason, the cliff diver. The kids thought he was the coolest thing ever. They kept asking if he was famous.
Lincoln kept waving at the cliff diver, but of course he wouldn't wave at the camera when we wanted him to!
HONEY!! He just kept scooping it onto his finger and licking it off. And washing it down with Sprite. What kind of parent have I become?! At least we didn't have to pay for him this year. Next year this place is going to be downright pricey!!
Jenni and Matt--we missed you guys this time! Come visit soon and we will go again! That goes for anyone who wants to visit us--we will always be willing to take you to Casa Bonita--The World's Most Exciting Restaurant.

I lived in Colorado as a kid, and that was one of our favorite places to go. We loved it...and the sopapillas are the best around, especially with honey. Yum! What a fun tradition for you guys.
