Evening to relax

Last night, after spending all day long finishing the loft, we decided that the kids needed to get out of the house and have some fun. The evenings here are so incredibly beautiful, but our kids don't ever get to enjoy them because of their early bedtime. Last night we gave it a try--Ryan took them up to the school while I put Lincoln to bed.The girls rode their bikes and did really well. We got them these bikes for their last birthday, but then Lincoln was born and it got cold and we never had a chance to really let them practice. Audrey took to it like she does everything. She is so brave and dives right in to new things. She rode her bike the whole way without any help. Chloe is much more timid and was nervous unless Ryan was right there next to her. Isaac took his new ball and bat and mitt and he and Ryan got quite a bit of practicing in.
When they got back the sprinklers were on, so they had to run through them before coming in.
They had a wonderfully fun summer evening with their dad. Unfortunately, it will be the last one for a long time. We have been paying the price for letting them stay up late all day today. It has really been awful--my kids don't function well when they are exhausted. Poor Ryan--I hope he will soon forget this HORRIBLE Father's day and only remember the fun night before! The only redeeming thing about this day was that we had the kids in bed at 5:15 tonight and the girls were asleep by 5:20!
