The Fever.

Oh, yes. We have it bad. At least the girls in our family do. This is what Audrey spent her morning doing:
(Translation: Dear Justin Bieber, Can you do your next concert at Colorado? Can you please? I {heart} you. I'm 7 years old. How old are you? Love, Audrey)

I found his fan mail address online, so we are sending it tomorrow. :)

Starting it off with a bang!!

Summer vacation, that is!! With year-round school, we don't get a lot of time off, so we have to make the most of it! I think we started it off right this year. We had SO MUCH FUN on Friday. Ryan came home early, so as soon as our Teacher Appreciation Brunch was over and cleaned up we hopped in the car and went for a hike.

We went to Mt. Falcon, where, in the early 1900's a man named John Walker built himself a castle. Unfortunately, it was struck by lightening in 1918 and he never rebuilt it, but the ruins are still there. It was a beautiful hike and I found that castle to be fascinating. It was huge. They had some pictures up there of what it looked like before it burned down, but try as I might, I can't find any on Google. :( Bummer.

Mr. Walker also decided that the Presidents of the U.S. needed a summer home in the Rockies, so he started construction on a castle for them, too. That one never got completed, but we hiked up and saw its foundation anyway. It would have been one heck of an incredible summer home for Obama.

We saw tons of deer as we were out and about.

And how appropriate that as we reached the top of Mt. Falcon, we caught sight of five large birds overhead. Falcons? I have no idea. But it was still cool.
After we got home from our hike, we ate dinner and then made a fire and roasted marshmallows. Then we camped out in our camper in the backyard for the night. Perfect start to the summer!!!
Much, much more fun to come!!!

Teachers, we love you!

A friend and I hosted a brunch for our kids' teachers on Friday morning to tell them "Thank You!" for a job well done. I was a little stressed out getting ready for it, but I think the teachers had a good time and I know the kids enjoyed it. Although I was mortified when Isaac decided to show his teacher his room, the ONLY room in the house I hadn't had time to clean that morning. His bed wasn't even made!!!

This was how I kept the kids busy while I made the cinnamon rolls:

Here they are with the finished product on the garage door. Just in case the teachers were unsure which house they should go to. (It says "Thank You!!")

Our lovely brunch:
